About Us

What is SOMERSOUL?

Premiering in 2017, SOMERSOUL Studio is Somerset-Pulaski County's newest facility for Therapeutic Massage, Bodywork, and Mind/Body Wellness.  We provide the highest quality services that are meant to inspire, educate, and support individual and community well-being.  Our practitioners and staff are committed to creating the space for you to relax, rest, and de-stress.

We currently practice the following massage modalities: Classic Swedish Massage, Myofascial Release, CranioSacral Therapy, Hot Stone Massage Therapy, Breathwork, Vedic Thai Yoga (assisted stretching) Massage, Side-Lying Massage, Chair Massage, and KinesioTaping Application Techniques.  We are continually expanding our scope of massage disclipines.

Our classes are designed to assist you in attaining mobility, flexibility, strength, agility, stillness, and overall wellness.  We are motivated to bring you the best of movement education and experiential learning. Initial offerings include Yoga Fundamentals, The Nia Technique, and Introductory Movement Practices.

Our building is adjacent to the legendary Virginia Cinema and part of Downtown Somerset's rich history.  Built in the late 1800's, the studio space features original ceiling tiles, exposed brick with vintage signage, and a beautiful glass block highlight over the front door and bay windows.

Used as a dual space for professional massage therapy sessions and movement classes, our studio is transformed daily to reveal the ambiance you'd expect from a dedicated spa space.  Prior to your table massage, our mirror-lined walls are completely covered. We use rigid acoustic panel-partitions to frame a temporary "room" within the space.  We do everything possible to ensure your privacy, safety, and comfort when you are here.

Plenty of free parking is available in public lots and on side streets.

Mari Anne Jayme, LMT
Mari Anne Jayme is originally from Somerset, Kentucky, and is the Owner/Director of SOMERSOUL Bodywork & Wellness Studio.  It is the culmination of her passion for body/mind integration therapies, holistic psychology, and cultivating a spirit of creative self-expression and Well-Being.

She is certified by the National Certification Board of Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork, a member of the American Massage Therapy Association, and licensed as a massage therapist in both Kentucky and Tennessee.  She completed the massage therapy program at Lexington Healing Arts Academy in 2012, and has trained in CranioSacral Therapy, Vedic Thai Yoga Massage, Kinesio Taping™ (CKTP), The Nia Technique®, Therapeutic Breathwork, Foundations of Svaroopa® Yoga, Reiki Master Level (Usui Method), and continues to broaden her scope of practice regularly.

Her style of bodywork is based in Classic Swedish Massage, Myofascial Release and movement techniques to assist clients in connecting with their breath.  She creates a safe, therapeutic experience while educating clients in acknowledging the body’s holding patterns, as the intention is most always to relax, rest, and de-stress.  Using the breath to encourage releasing such patterns is at the core of her approach to massage therapy and bodywork— an integration of physical, mental, and emotional factors.

Mari Anne is a Licensed Nia Technique® Teacher and offers natural movement-based Nia® classes (cardio-dance fitness/ www.nianow.com) at the Studio, along with yoga-based and expressive movement classes.

Last and certainly not least, Mari Anne has been a professional working musician for over 20 years as a performer and educator in many parts of the country, including Chicago, Los Angeles, Orlando, and Nashville.  She has a Bachelor of Science degree from Western Michigan University and Master of Music degree in Jazz Studies & Vocal Performance from Roosevelt University.  When she’s not at SOMERSOUL, she’s out touring with Gary Sinise & The Lt. Dan Band.
